Selous Game Reserve covers 5% of Tanzania’s total area land area and is approximately 54,600sqkm. Selous is Africa’s largest wild life reserve and Tanzania’s most extensive protected area. Selous provide shelter of large number of elephants, lions, big populations of buffaloes, Wild dogs, crocodiles and hippopotamus; in Rufiji River also has a lot of bird life. The reserve is named after the one of famous British But now days selous Game reserves is called Nyerere National Park.
